Harborne Court is a block of studio flats close to Harborne High Street, Birmingham.
Completed on behalf of Spire Management, the project at Harborne Court comprised a total uplift, disposal and replacement of all floor coverings in the communal areas, carried out over a 3 day period.
The brief
The client brief for this project, included selecting a hard wearing and durable contract carpet.
The existing carpet had been patched in areas that had seen wear over the years. We uplifted the carpet, cleaned the area and the new carpet was fully bonded to the sub floor with F Ball – F3 Flooring Adhesive.
Our choice of carpet was JHS Aldgate, a 100% Polypropylene pile, for its suitability and it’s five year commercial wear guarantee.
Our directors had full involvement, allowing direct contact from the client with any queries regarding the process, time scale of works, working hours, removal of rubbish and the overall tasks involved.
Challenges
A challenge of the project was the complete replacement of the stair safety nosing. This involved removal of existing worn nosings and fitting of new quantum safety nosings throughout.
As we removed the existing nosing, we discovered that the concrete treads had crumbled over time, leaving a unstable edge to adhere the new nosings to.
The solution resulted in creating a new face of the stair risers which we were confident would be adequate enough to endure the pressure that is placed on the stair nosing on a daily basis.
